“You can only actually help someone who wants to be helped”
Hello, everyone. The title is the quote Alina chose from the book she’s reading with her group, which is “Me Before You”.
When I first read this quote I immediately thought about some tough life situations, like people with financial or health problems, this kind of stuff. But then I thought that it can be applied to something less depressing, and even cheerfull I’d say. For instance, something creative people do. I personally prefer doing things on my own in terms of the way I do, the time I spend, and so on. It’s rare case when I ask someone to help me in such things. And it’s just because I want to do it the way I want to do it. I want it to be something made/done/created by me fully. I believe it’s the way to make it unique, and at the same time it helps to become more responsible, independent, and confident. That’s the way I see this quote. Of course, I’m not talking about education and learning new in general, because I know that it’s difficult to study on your own with no one near to explain things to you.
As for “depressing things” I mentioned, my undestanding of the quote might also be applied to them more in terms of feeling sorry for people. Like people in wheelchairs. They don’t want to be treated the way people usually treat them, like there’s something wrong. No need to stare at them, that’s what kids are taught. If they do need help, I’m sure, they will ask.
That’s all I had today for you. Thank you for reading, stay tuned ;)
